Resign from CEO of Gojek, How much is Nadiem Makarim's Salary as Minister of Education and Culture?

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Nadiem Makarim, officially left the position of CEO of Gojek after accepting President Joko Widodo's offer to become Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud).

Nadiem's decision is not without consequences. He must be willing to let go of a high salary for a CEO. Now the salary will be borne by the state with a nominal that is not greater than being the CEO of Gojek.

So, what is Nadiem's salary as Minister of Education and Culture? quoted from Article 2 of Government Regulation Number 60 of 2000, Thursday (10/24/2019), a minister's basic salary is Rp. 5.04 million per month.

Is that the only thing a minister receives? of course not.

Ministers are also given benefits by the state. This provision is in Presidential Decree Number 68 Year 200, regarding Position Allowances for Certain State Officials.

Article 2.e of Presidential Decree No. 68/2001 states that the allowance given to the minister is Rp. 13.6 million per month.

So, Nadiem Makarim's salary and benefits as Minister of Education and Culture is Rp. 18.64 million per month.

Beyond that, the minister also gets operational allowances. However, the allowance is entirely to finance the activities of the minister and not for personal gain.

In addition, there are also official homes and official cars that must be returned when the term ends.

Previously, President Joko Widodo appointed Nadiem Makarim as Minister of Education and Culture in the 2019-2024 cabinet.

The appointment of Nadiem as Minister of Education and Culture was announced by Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/23/2019).
