Far from Decent Living Components, FSPMI Bintan Rejects UMK 2020 Increase of 8.51 Percent
FSPMI Bintan assesses that the proposed increase in the UMK Bintan 2020 is far from the results of the FSPMI internal survey.
The Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers' Union (FSPMI) Bintan rejected the proposed 2020 UMK increase of 8.51 percent or Rp 3,648,714.
FSPMI urges 19 percent increase in Regency Minimum Wage (UMK) by Rp. 4,001,447.
The proposal submitted by FSPMI Bintan was different from several other trade unions such as the Reformation FSPSI, PC FAP PAR SPSI, DPC FSP LEM SPSI and FKUI SBSI.
They agreed to the proposed increase in UMK of 8.51 percent with reference to Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015.
Not to mention the planned increase in BPJS contributions to 100 percent that affects the income of workers.
The government is also not assertive in carrying out its supervisory function in the application of UMKs.
The government seems to only discuss the UMKs without looking at the structure and scale of wages that employers should apply.
Of the two proposals, there is only one proposal that will be forwarded to the Governor of the Riau Islands to be approved as UMK next year. (Tribunbatam.id/alfandisimamora)
