TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Trade today determines that every November 11 becomes National Retail Day.
This refers to the proposal of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) which proposes that every November 11 be made as the National Retail Day (Hari Retail Nasional (HRN)).
The reason is, that date is the date of the establishment of Aprindo as an association that oversees retail companies.
Agus Suparmanto, Minister of Trade said that retail contribution until the third quarter of 2019 reached more than 13 percent and consumption of 56.52 percent of Gross Domestic Product (Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB)). In addition to contributing to economic growth, the retail sector also plays a role in marketing, especially for the sale of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM)) products.
"The government will continue to strive so that the policies provided play a role for balance, business guarantees, and growth for the retail sector," he said in the Aprindo VII National Conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (11/12/2019).
During the HRN celebration retailers will later be used as momentum to provide attractive programs to customers. While also increasing retail contribution to Indonesia's PDB which will be even higher.
At present, Indonesia's economic growth still relies on the consumption sector, where the role of Aprindo and its retail companies below is important.
Hoping this proposal can be welcomed by the government and become a momentum for retailers to make a greater contribution going forward.
"Our role is very influential on our economic growth. If (the economy) is supported by consumption, then the role of retailers will need to try harder to support public consumption," he concluded. (*)
