In Meeting with the President's Cabinet, Trump Again Threatens China
President Donald Trump acknowledged that the US and China are currently trapped in a deadlocked trade negotiation.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - In a meeting with the president's cabinet on Tuesday, President Donald Trump acknowledged that the US and China are currently trapped in a deadlocked trade negotiation.
"If we do not make an agreement with China, I will only raise tariffs higher," Trump said at the meeting, as quoted by CNBC, Wednesday (11/20/2019).
After Trump made his statement, the financial markets proved to be reactive to the development of the ongoing trade war. However, most ignored Trump's warning.

Previously, the US and China agreed on a phase one trade agreement planned for December 2019 after not being able to operate in October. Since then, Beijing and Washington have sent mixed signals about how the two countries will move forward.
A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said earlier this month that the two countries had agreed to cancel several tariffs simultaneously. However, Trump said that he did not agree to cancel the tariffs, which further lowered hopes for a deal.
"They (China) want to experience setbacks. I have not agreed to anything," the president said. (*)
