TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Don't ever say you've come to Batam, if you haven't stopped at the Barelang Bridge I.

These are the words that are often spoken when visiting Batam.

This statement has a point.

Barelang Bridge I is a bridge of pride in the city of Batam, Riau Islands Province.

This bridge was also being a tourist icon in Batam. 

If you walk from the Batam Center to take a private vehicle, or tourist bus for tourists, the travel time is approximately 45 minutes.

Barelang Bridge is actually not the real name of this bridge.

Embedding the name 'Barelang' comes from the abbreviation namely, "Batam, Rempang, and Galang". 

Barelang Bridge I, which is widely known in the community, has the original name of the Tengku Fisabilillah Bridge (Bridge I / Barelang Bridge).

This bridge is also one of the largest and longest bridges in Batam.

The Barelang Bridge I was built in 1992-1998 by the Batam City Authority, which has now changed its name to Batam Business Entity (BP).

For tourists who come to Batam, it feels incomplete if you haven't visited the Barelang Bridge.

Dendang, a local youth who also manages the Dendang Melayu, precisely at the location of Barelang Bridge I said, as local youth they always try to help the government in promoting tourism in Barelang. 

"We are ready to support the government's program to advance tourism in Batam," Dendang said.

Currently the Batam City Government, through the Batam City Culture and Tourism Office, continues to strive to build tourist support facilities at the Barelang Bridge I.
