Christmas 2019, Two Residents of Class IIA Batam Gets Released Remission

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Penitentiary Institutions (Lapas) Class IIA Batam proposes that 92 inmates can get special remissions to Ministry of Law and Human Rights (HAM).

This special remission for Christmas in 2019.

Head of Class II A Penitentiary (Lapas) Batam, Surianto said, the reduction of criminal period was given to prisoners as stipulated in Law Number 12 of 1995 concerning Corrections.

Granting of religious special remissions is regulated in PP Number 32 of 1999 concerning Requirements and Procedures for Implementation of Prisoners' Rights which has been changed to PP Number 99 of 2012, and Presidential Decree Number 174 of 1999 concerning Remission.

"In accordance with the assessment of Lapas employees towards fostered people, especially those who are Christians, we propose 92 fostered residents who get Christmas remission in 2019," said Surianto, Saturday (11/23/2019).

Of the 92 people, two fostered residents received immediate remission.

Fostered people who get this remission are fostered citizens who have met administrative and substantive requirements.

Among them have served minimum of six months imprisonment in prison.

"Fostered residents who get Christmas remission have fulfilled the requirements not registered in register F (a record of prisoners' discipline violations). Then, they also actively participate in coaching programs in this prison," said Surianto.

Surianto hopes that the remission can make the target residents realize their mistakes.
