TRIBUNBATAM.id - Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Hang Nadim Meteorological Station issued an early warning of waves in the southern and northern waters of Anambas islands to North Natuna Sea, Tuesday (10/12/2019).
Head of BMKG Data and Information Meteorology Station Class I Hang Nadim, Suratman said that conditions in Anambas and Natuna waters experienced high waves.
This is due to the pattern of wind speed circulation in the northern Malacca Strait which results in wave height.
Suratman explained, the current wave conditions in Batam waters range from 0.1 meters to 6 meters.
For Batam area, 0.4 to 1 meter, Bintan 0.5 to 2 meters, Karimun 0.4 to 1 meter, Lingga 0.5 to 1.3 meters and Natuna 0.7 to 6 meters and Anambas 0.7 to 4 meters.
So please pay attention to the high risk of voyage safety, for fishing boats wind speed to 15 knots and wave height at 1.25 meters, barges of wind speed to 16 knots and wave height at 1.5 meters, ferry vessels wind speed to 121 knots and wave height above 2, 5 meters, also large size cargo ships or yachts with wind speed to 27 knots and waves at 4 meters.

As for the weather conditions, Suratman explained Batam area on Tuesday (12/10/2019) there was the potential for moderate intensity rain that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
He said, this condition was predicted to continue from 07.00 WIB until 19.00 WIB.
Based on BMKG analysis predictions, Batam will be rained by 19.00 WIB.
"Batam region is entering the north wind into the northeast with wind speeds of up to 20 knots and wave height of 0.5 to 1.25 meters," he explained.
Suratman also appealed for road users to remain cautious when passing.
