Many Wives Ask For Divorce in Batam, Main Reasons Are Economic Problems and Infidelity

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Divorce demands in Batam City are more dominant at the request of wife side, it was recorded in Class 1 A Religious Court of Batam.

Divorce is caused by various factors, but it is more dominant due to household economic conditions.

It was said by Head of Batam City Religious Court Public Relations Section, H Barmawi to Tribun on Monday (12/16/2019) that the number of divorces recorded at religious court was more filed by the wife.

The number of divorce filed by the wife is 1435 cases, inversely proportional to divorce submitted by husband is 512 cases.

Barmawi revealed that the cause of large number of wives who filed for divorce was due to economic conditions, because the husband was less responsible.

Demand for divorce is more among those who are still of productive age, between 20 and 30 years of age.

Sometimes they marry young and get pregnant out of wedlock and so on.

Not only economic conditions, thereare also number of problems due to infidelity.

It was known by his party at the time of mediation between two parties who would divorce.

"So in divorce trial, we do mediation first. We first asked that between husband and wife they could not merge anymore or how, just conducted trial. The rules like that without mediation, the trial cannot be continued, it is legally flawed," he said.

As for the length of trial it does not need to take a long time if both of them follow the trial rules.

"Four times the trial is also over if they obey the rules," he said.

The number of cases handled by Batam City Religious Court in 2019 has increased from the previous year.

Divorce recorded in Batam City until the end of November was 1947 cases.

The data has increased compared to the previous year, where in 2017 there were 1686 divorce cases.
