Impact of Corona Virus, Batam Center International Port Visitors Decreased

Corona virus spreading made some countries tightened their security system. Especially through Batam Center International Port visitors has decreased.

Especially security through the airport and sea port.

One of the countries that tighten security system is Singapore.

Even Singapore became the first country in Southeast Asia to prohibit visits from Chinese travelers, including foreigners who visiting China within 14 days.

This condition makes some foreign tourists visiting Batam decreased.

Especially through Batam Center International Port.

Concerned About Corona virus, Batam Residents Bought Lot of Mask Supplies

PT Synergy Tharada's Operations Manager, which Batam Center International Port Manager, Nika Astaga said the number of tourist arrivals from Singapore and Malaysia through Hang Nadim Batam International Port has decreased significantly.

Usually on normal days (Monday to Friday), the number of foreign tourists visiting Batam from Singapore and Malaysia is known to reach 6,000 people in one day.

And 10 thousand for each Saturday and Sunday.

Now, that number has fallen to 1,000 people per day on Saturday to Friday or its normal day.

And 5,000 thousand people from Saturday and Sunday.

"This decline cause by the ban on some countries against foreign nationals who visited China because of Corona virus. One of them is from Singapore," Nika said, Monday (02/03/2020).

She admitted that this was due to the ban, so the gate of foreign tourist arrivals from Singapore and Malaysia had decreased.

"It decreased," she said.

She also said that all officers at Batam Center International Port were encouraged to wear masks during their daily activities at the Port.
