TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recognizes, the spread of the corona virus will have an impact on national tourism sector financing programs.

Deputy Director of OJK Financing Institution Supervision, Indra explained, tourism is one of the priority sectors that the government wants to develop. Therefore, finance companies have great opportunities in this sector.

Nevertheless, Indra added, the potential is potentially threatened by the issue of the corona virus outbreak.

Because the spread of the corona virus has a negative impact on the national tourism sector. This is caused by the decline in the number of foreign tourists from China.

"This year will be a difficult year because of the corona issue, and the tourism sector will definitely be affected by a significant impact. And yesterday, an internal discussion was being held to continue the tourism financing program," he said.

After conducting the discussion, OJK is optimistic that funding for the tourism sector will experience improvement after the first quarter of 2020.

Indra is optimistic that the pressure on the tourism sector from the corona virus will soon hit, so the tourism sector will again experience growth.

Previously, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio said the tourism sector would suffer losses due to the spread of the corona virus.

Although he does not yet have exact figures related to the potential loss, based on the data he had last year there were 2 million Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia, who contributed foreign exchange of 2.8 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp 39.2 trillion (assuming exchange rates Rp 14,000 per US dollar).
