Prevent Covid-19, Mayor of Batam Encourage Residents to Exercise for Stay Healthy

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Batam experienced a serious impact from the spread of Covid-19.

Some sectors ranging from industry to tourism feel the impact.

At the end, the economy in Batam City is hampered.

After meeting with media crew in the fourth floor hall, Batam City Government Office, Saturday (3/14/2020), Mayor of Batam, H. Muhammad Rudi, called his move to expel Covid-19 from Batam.

Instead of exposing Covid-19's economic impact mitigation strategy, Rudi instead focused on preventive measures.

"Because today's corona, which was hit by trade actually happened. The entry and exit of goods stopped. So actually how this virus leaves Batam City is most important," he told reporters.

The mustachioed man said he would send a letter of appeal to the public for exercise in order to stay health when facing Covid-19.

"For Batam City residents who have not been infected, we should prevent it. We should do sports again, outside of government officials," he said.

Mayor of Batam and Head of Batam Entrepreneurship Agency (BP) admitted that the economic storm was engulfing due to Covid-19.

"Because there is no way anymore, our trade today is only national, international has been closed," he continued.

He has also suggested to industry players to look for raw materials outside of China which is being closed due to Covid-19.

"The hotel is not yet closed, it has just been rumored. The same is the industry, it hasn't closed yet, we are trying to find out how they are looking for raw materials from outside China, we suggest looking outside of China.
