Died Due to Covid-19 Infection, MUI Issues Fatwa on Guidelines for Handling Muslim Bodies
MUI again issued a fatwa related to guidelines for the management of the body (tahjiz al-jana'iz) of a Muslim infected with the Corona or Covid-19.
TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) again issued a fatwa related to guidelines for the management of the body (tahjiz al-jana'iz) of a Muslim infected with the Corona or Covid-19 virus.
In the fatwa number 18 of 2020, the MUI confirmed that a Muslim died from this dangerous virus, including the category of martyr hereafter.
This was clearly written in the MUI Fatwa that the Tribun Batam had received from the Batam City MUI Secretary, Muhammad Santoso, Saturday (3/28/2020).
"Muslims who died due to the plague of Covid-19 in the view of shara' including the category of martyr hereafter and the rights of the body must be fulfilled, namely being bathed, shroud, prayed and buried. The implementation is obliged to maintain the safety of officers by complying with the provisions of medical protocols, "wrote the MUI in the provisions of fatwa law number 18 of 2020.

In the fatwa, MUI decided the stipulation of guidelines for managing the corpse of a Muslim patient in Covid-19 in two conditions.
First general provisions. In this provision, MUI explains the definition of officer, martyr hereafter, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Second is the legal provisions. In this provision, the MUI outlines the procedures for guiding bathing bodies for the burial of a Muslim who has tested positive for the Coronavirus.
