TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Garuda Indonesia airline said it would fully support efforts to meet the needs of air transportation accessibility during the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

Garuda Indonesia's Managing Director Irfan Sebuahutra said this was in line with the implementation of transportation control policies in the homecoming period this year.

"As a national flag carrier we are committed to playing an active role in the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic by ensuring that air connectivity continues with all the provisions and restrictions for the benefit of the public and the smooth distribution of national logistics," he said through a written statement, Friday (1/5 / 2020).

Irfan added, it will intensively communicate with the government and related authorities in ensuring the readiness of the needs of aviation service accessibility.

However, Garuda said it was still trying to prevent the spread of Covid-19 through the implementation of clear and measurable health protocols.

This is particularly related to the government's plan to establish a derivative policy of the Minister of Transportation's Regulation Number 25 of 2020 which regulates the provisions of flight service operations during the pandemic.

"However, we can be sure that, from the aspect of operational readiness, we are very ready if indeed the policy will be implemented," he said.

The Ministry of Transportation will issue a derivative regulation from Permenhub No. 25 of 2020 concerning Transportation Control During the Eid Al-Fitr 1441 H Mud Season in the framework of Preventing the Distribution of Covid-19.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati said, with the existence of these derivative rules, the government still firmly prohibited homecoming activities to break the chain of distribution of Covid-19.

"Going home is still prohibited, there is no change to that. "What we are currently doing is preparing a Circular from the Director-General of Land, Sea, Air and Railroad Transportation as a derivative regulation from Permenhub 25/2020," she said in an official statement received by Kompas.com, today.

Adita also said that the regulation was released as a follow-up to the proposal from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy to accommodate the important and urgent needs of the community.

The goal is to keep the economy running well by providing limited passenger transportation, with the condition that it still meets the health protocol. (*)
