TRIBUNBATAM.id - PT Pelayaran Indonesia III (Persero) noted an increase in the flow of ships and containers in the 43 ports it manages in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Director of Pelindo III, Doso Agung, said that up to April 2020 container flows at 43 ports managed by the company recorded an increase of 1.6 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) when compared to the same period last year.

As for the flow of ships, recorded an increase of 3 percent or 94.7 million GT compared to last year.

According to Doso, the growth occurred because of several forms of relaxation and stimulus that were given by Pelindo III to logistic players.

This was done so that entrepreneurs are more excited to boost export and domestic export activities.

Meanwhile, in an effort to combat the spread of Covid-19 in the port area, Pelindo III together with the Port Health Office (KKP) have implemented Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) according to special health protocols for ships going into the port area.

For example by checking the health of all crew members directly on board (on board).

Pelindo III also ensured that all vessels that were going to lean and anchored had passed various stages of inspection in accordance with applicable standards.

In addition, it also requires all operational employees to use masks in their activities to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19. (*)
