The Importance of Digitalization for Manufacturing Industries to Face Crisis due to Pandemic

Schneider Electric Indonesia's Country Digital Transformation, Fadli Hamsani said this is the importance of supporting technology in order to create accurate and fast collaboration and data management for decision making right in times of crisis.

First, the industry must know where problems are encountered and what kind of pain points are felt.

After knowing the problems, the industry needs to conduct a feasibility study on whether those problems must be anticipated to find a digital solution. 

"Furthermore, we must not forget how to prepare competencies through up-skilling or re-skilling with capability building or easily being able to collaborate with existing partners, such as Schneider Electric," continued Fadli.

Finally, there is a need for a piloting project for digitalization in an easy way so that the industry can directly feel the benefits such as what they get after digitizing their operations.

"The most important thing is how this digitalization can increase the resilience of the industry during the crisis," he explained.

First, digitalization allows management to plan a business continuity plan strategy to accelerate operational recovery and protect processes and vital assets.

Second, Schneider Electric sees that digitalization can prevent or at a minimum reduce the ongoing impact on operations and business through accurate and real-time data transparency for decision making. 

Third, digitization enables remote working and remote monitoring so that it can respond to emergencies quickly and still while maintaining employee productivity. 

Fourth, digitalization can also turn crisis conditions into opportunities.

Fadli said, companies that have structured, accurate, and real-time mitigation scenarios and procedures in crisis conditions will gain full trust and confidence from customers.
