TRIBUNBATAM.id, ANAMBAS - The increase in electricity tariffs is not only felt by the urban community.

Residents in Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands Province also feel the increase in electricity bills which decreased some residents felt it was not fair.

Not only ordinary people, a number of officials up to people's representatives in Anambas Islands Regency complained about the electricity bill which they said jumped from normal.

In the Anambas Islands Regency, there are already 270 customers who experienced an increase in electricity reaching 30 percent.

"Quite a lot of complaints yesterday. Even the members of the board to the Regent are the same, those who initially paid monthly Rp1.2 million to Rp2.7 million. But I explained according to the data," said PLN ULP Tarempa Manager, Hendrico, Sunday (7/6 / 2020).

He revealed, the majority of customers who filed complaints did not read the electricity usage meter. As a result they were shocked by the electricity bill.

The Reasons Why Batam Runs New Normal When Covid-19 Transmission Still Occur

"They sometimes say we don't use this, but don't use it. But in the meter numbers we can see how much it is used. Because the transaction is kwh meter, and that number is included in the account bill," he said.

Hendrico also explained why in the previous month community electricity tariffs exploded.

He said, when the Covid-19 pandemic PLN staff was not there to the customer's home to read the meter.

Because Anambas Islands Regency is included in the green zone area, at present the PLN has started visiting customers' homes to read the meter.

He further explained, in March there was a policy from the central government not to allow staff reading meters to the field due to Covid-19 pandemic.

After customers complained about surging electricity tariffs, PLN immediately matched usage by looking at the meter and the results were in line.

"So it is our solution so that the electricity tariffs of the community will not swell back to the use of their communities again," explained Hendrico. (TribunBatam.id/Rahma Tika)
