TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), through the Denpasar Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL), released 32,400 Lobster seeds.
The release was carried out in Bangsring waters, Banyuwangi, Wednesday (06/10/2020).
Tens of thousands of lobster seeds are smuggled, which was successfully thwarted by Banyuwangi Police.
The Director-General of Sea Space Management (PRL) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Aryo Hanggono, said the release was carried out in order to preserve fisheries resources, especially lobsters.
"In addition, these steps can also increase the population of lobsters in their habitat," said Aryo through a written statement, Friday (06/12/2020).
Aryo explained, in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 12 / PERMEN-KP / 2020, the Directorate General of PRL through the Technical Management Unit (UPT) was assigned to determine the location and procedures for releasing lobsters.

"The suitable location is usually located in a watershed conservation area because the area is protected," he explained.
Separately, Head of Denpasar BPSPL, Permana Yudiarso explained, the released lobster seeds were the result of Banyuwangi Police disclosure of reports and information from the public about the existence of lobster seed packaging activities that were allegedly not having a permit (SIUP).
Furthermore, Permana said, the released lobster seeds consisted of 31,950 types of sand lobster and 450 types of pearl lobster.
The Lobster seeds are released at the prospective location of the water conservation area.
Permana reported, in 2019, the KKP had also released 37,000 lobster seeds at the Watu Dodol Waters, Banyuwangi Regency, and in waters around Menjangan Island, Buleleng, Bali.
"This is our joint task, which is to monitor and maintain, hopefully, the release of lobster seeds is beneficial for aquatic ecosystems and fisheries resources, as well as the community in this region," he hoped. (*)
