TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The policy of easing up crowd activity since Covid-19 pandemic in Batam has not much impact on hotel room occupancy rates.

Head of I Hotel Sales and Marketing, Dita said the current hotel occupancy is still the same as Batam declared as Covid-19 red zone, which is about 25 percent.

"So far it has not gone up. But we are ready to welcome New Normal by implementing preventive procedures. We prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests, " she told TribunBatam.id, Tuesday (6/30/2020).
According to her, one strategy to increase occupancy by providing special prices when guests check in.

The condition was actually not much help. Moreover, almost all hotels in Batam depend on foreign tourists visiting.
Meanwhile, foreign tourist visits have not been very effective.
"There are no tourists yet. The in house is limited to workers who indeed they still have work in Batam, "she added.
Dita did not deny, tourists from Singapore dominated the number of visits in Batam.
If they haven't visited Batam, the impact will be felt.
Therefore, she hopes, the government can be more keen to promote tourist attractions in Batam.
In addition, the government, according to her, must be able to convince foreign tourists, especially Singapore, that Batam City has changed from the red zone of Corona virus transmission.
