Residents Running Out when the M 5.2 Earthquake Shakes Yogyakarta
Residents rushed out of their homes when an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 shook southwest of Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta on Friday (17/3) evening.
TRIBUNBATAM.id, YOGYAKARTA - Residents rushed out of their homes when an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 shook southwest of Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta on Friday (17/3) evening.
Ahmad Mustaqim (32), a resident of Sentolo, Kulon Progo, admitted that he was in his house when the earthquake shook.
"It feels (shaking) for 3-5 seconds. Some of the neighbors also leave the house," said the private employee when contacted, Friday (17/3).
An earthquake rocked the DI Yogyakarta area today, Friday (17/3) evening.
Through the Twitter account @InfoBMKG, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the earthquake occurred at 19.05 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
BMKG stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was around 126 kilometers southwest of Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta.
The hypocenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
BMKG said the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.
