All Garuda Indonesia Flight Crew that Serving the India-Fiji Route Negative of Corona Virus

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Irfan Setiaputra ensured that the flight crew charter flight GA 8820 on the New Delhi - Batam - Merauke - Fiji route was negative of Covid-19. 

On the flight, there was one passenger who was a Fijian citizen who died after experiencing shortness of breath. 

"All flight crew on duty have carried out health checks, including carrying out the SWAB Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) examination procedure at Galang Island RSKI with negative results of Covid-19," Irfan said in his written statement on Thursday (2/6/2020). 

Irfan added, all flight crew on duty on the flight will be flown back to Jakarta and undergo the necessary health protocols.

In addition, the plane carrying the deceased Fijian citizen was disinfected in his cabin.

Meanwhile, regarding the Fijian citizen who died, Irfan confirmed that he had carried out the SWAB Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) inspection procedure with a negative Covid-19 result before the flight.

"The body of the passenger was evacuated when the plane was transiting at Batam's Hang Nadim Airport. The evacuation process is carried out by referring to the health protocol procedures that are carried out thoroughly with intensive coordination with the health authorities at Batam's Hang Nadim Airport, "said Irfan. 

The GA 8820 flight which departed from New Delhi at 21:45 local time on Tuesday (6/30/2020) was a charter flight in order to repatriate 112 Fijians from New Delhi.

Flight GA 8820 then continues the trip from Batam at 02.54 on Wednesday (1/7/2020) with the change of flight crew. (*)
