BEWARE! Not Wearing a Mask in Batam Could be Fined by IDR 250 Thousand

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Batam City Regional Head Regulation ( Perkada) Draft regarding the application of the law for health protocol violators following Presidential Instruction number 6 of 2020 has been discussed at the Regional Leadership Conference ( Muspida).

The substance in Perkada states the types of sanctions that will be applied to violators of health protocols, including verbal and written warnings, fines, and social work sanctions.

"There are a number of variants of sanctions, essentially aimed at those who violate the implementation of health protocols," said Deputy Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad, after chairing a meeting with Muspida at Batam Mayor's Office, Thursday (27/8/2020).

Meanwhile, fines have been stipulated in the draft Perkada, namely a minimum of IDR 250 thousand and IDR 500 thousand.

Meanwhile, fines for individual health protocol violators are subject to a minimum of IDR 250 per person, while for business entities a minimum fine of IDR 500 thousand is imposed.

"For business entities, we will classify them again, there are street vendors, such as Rp. 500 thousand, in the form of cafes, Rp. 750 thousand, malls, maybe Rp. 1 million. But this is still a figure, for example," said Amsakar.

The draft Perkada, according to Amsakar, has been completed by a special team from Batam Municipal Government since last Friday (21/8), however, suggestions and input from FKPD ranks are needed regarding its substance.

Amsakar added that the team will review the draft again by considering various inputs from FKPD over the next two days forecast. After that, when it is final, it will take 1 week for socialization.

"After 1 week of socialization, then we will start implementing the regulation," said Amsakar.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Batam DPRD, Nuryanto, in principle, Batam City DPRD agrees to enforce the regulations in Perwako.

However, it takes decisiveness and alertness from Batam City Government ( Pemko) in implementing the rules being discussed.

With Perwako, field officers can take firm, clear and measurable actions.

Therefore, in this case, Batam DPRD proposes that this Perwako regulation can be implemented immediately with a firm stance.

"Indeed, there must be rules and regulations as a loan. So that we can obey it together," said Nuryanto.
