IMPACT of Covid-19, The Ship Only Departs 3 Times a Day, Harbour Bay Batam is Still Quiet

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Heni, one of the tickets seller when she was met at Domestic port of Harbour Bay, Batam, said that during this pandemic the departure route from Harbour Bay Batam to Tanjung Balai Karimun was deliberately reduced.

Because the number of passengers going to Tanjung Balai is also decreasing.

Usually before the pandemic there were hundreds of passengers, but now only tens of people.

"For now, the work is just relaxed," said Heni to Tribun Batam.

In addition, he also said that during Covid-19 period passengers were directed to meet the health protocol requirements.

Prospective passengers are also required to show a rapid test letter from the hospital or clinic. If not, the passenger will not be dispatched.

In the same place, a field officer said that before Covid-19 the ship left 6 times a day, either from Batam to Tanjungbalai Karimun and others.

However, during Covid-19 period, the departure schedule was forced to reduce only 3 times a day, namely, 09.00 WIB, 15.00 WIB, and last Ferry at 17.00 WIB.

"We have reduced our schedule, but we still have fewer passengers, even though we think there is only one fleet operating in Harbour Bay, namely Oceana," he said.

From the observation of  TribunBatam in the field, it was seen that the situation at the port was quiet. Only a few shops were open. Passengers were also seen only 10-20 people sitting on the seats.
