Police Arrests Smugglers in Batam, Bringing 2.000 Packs of Cigarettes to Malaysia

The smuggling of illegal cigarettes in Batam has occurred again. At least 2,000 packs cigarettes were thwarted by the Patrol Team.

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The smuggling of illegal cigarettes in Batam has occurred again.

At least 2,000 packs of Gudang Garam Surya brand cigarettes were thwarted by the Patrol Team KP TAKA-3010 Ditpolair Korpolairud Baharkam Polri in Tanjung Pinggir Sekupang waters, Batam on Tuesday (15/9/2020).

From the results of the investigation, thousands of packs of Surya cigarettes without documents were about to be smuggled into Malaysian waters (West OPL).

By using a motor boat (Speed) without a name.

The commander of KP TAKA-3010, Ipda Ayub Peter B. Sinaga explained that the chronology of the arrests began when the patrol team carried out routine patrols.

"While in the waters of Tanjung Pinggir, Sekupang, the team sniffed a motor boat without a name that was suspicious of the officer," said Ipda Ayub.

"After chasing him, the officers checked that the speed boat contained thousands of packs of Surya 16 cigarettes without valid documents from Customs and Excise," he added.

It is known, this motor ship sailed from Tanjung Uma Batam to Malaysian waters (West OPL).

From this arrest, the officers secured the ship's captain who was also the owner of the goods on behalf of Bujang bin Rusli (26).

And the evidence is a unit of KM ship without a name and 2,000 packs of Gudang Garam Surya cigarettes 16.
