Becoming Coronavirus Cluster, 2 Foreign Investment Companies in Batam Avoid 'Lockdown'

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Reluctant to implement a lockdown after being designated as a new cluster for the spread of coronavirus in Batam, two foreign investment companies (PMA), namely PT Phillips and PT Infenion, sent an objection letter to the Batam City Government. 

This was acknowledged by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of the Batam City Government, Jefridin. 

In the letter, the two companies asked not to be subject to a lockdown policy after the discovery of a number of employees with corona.

"The two PMAs asked the government to review it, because they did not want to lock down," said Jefriden by telephone, Thursday (24/9/2020). 

According to Jefridin, if the lockdown is not carried out, the company can consider a mass swab test solution for all employees, which of course costs a lot.

Jefriden admitted that his party had scheduled another meeting to discuss this issue so that there was the best solution. 

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Batam, Rudi said that his party would take other alternative options besides lockdown and swab tests, namely mass rapid tests for thousands of employees at PT Phillips and PT Infenion companies. 

Asked about the mass swab test, Rudi admitted that he was still considering it, even though the swab was the right solution to cut the spread of the corona virus in the environment of the two PMAs.

However, the mass swab test effort certainly requires a lot of money. (*)
