TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The central government is again eyeing Batuampar Port, Batam, Riau Islands to be developed as the first environmentally friendly port ( Green Port) in Indonesia.
This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister ( Menko) for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan during a joint press conference regarding the online arrangement of National Logistics Ecocystic, Thursday (24/9/2020) yesterday.
Even in the near future, he will visit Batam directly to observe.
This includes reviewing these infrastructure projects as well as checking the implementation of National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE).
"We want Batam to be the first example of a Green Port in Indonesia because we don't have it yet. It's Batu Ampar Port, very suitable," said Luhut.
Luhut said that the government will also improve shipping in Bintan Regency and Batam City.

He also said that there would be an investment of more than IDR 5 trillion for cleaning up waste in lego anchor activities.
Luhut will also deploy Indonesian Navy and Maritime Security Agency ( Bakamla) to ambush ships dumping their waste in Indonesian seas.
In addition, the government through Pushidros AL will curb the messy fiber optic cable lines under the sea and is expected to be completed this year.
"So we will immediately make this decision to make this country more efficient.
I think this country has been inefficient for too long, for too long we like to be bribed, this is what in my opinion makes us a nation that cannot stand upright in facing this situation," he said. Luhut Pandjaitan.
NLE which cuts 17 service transactions to one single service will provide cost efficiency of around IDR 1.5 trillion only in Batam alone.
In line with that, he also estimates that the system will be able to bring in up to IDR 5 trillion in investment in Batam City.
He hopes that the implementation of the NLE regulated in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 5 of 2020 concerning National Logistics Ecosystem Arrangement will have an impact on cost efficiency, encourage investment and increase state revenue. (Tribunbatam.id/Leo Halawa)
