South Korean Technology Company Glanced at Batam, Ready to Invest up to IDR 10 Trillion

There is new hope for the economy of Batam City which is nicknamed the industrial city in Riau Islands.
Dozens of technology, information and communication companies from South Korea are looking to Batam as a new field of investment.
Two of the dozens of companies came directly to Batam and held a meeting on the 3rd floor of the Batam Concession Agency (BP) Building Hall.
The meeting was also attended by other Korean businessmen online from abroad.
Chairman of the Batam City Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( Kadin), Jadi Rajagukguk, who participated in the meeting revealed that a number of these companies are generally engaged in the Information and Communication Technology sector.

So he said, this investment exploration was a positive response from the results of the working visit of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises ( BUMN) Erick Thohir together with the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board ( BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia to South Korea on September 23-24 2020.
This is also in line with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, that Batam City must be directed towards the artificial intelligence industry, so that it can become a special high-tech investment area.
"There are two companies who come directly, meanwhile online there are dozens of companies from Korea.
There are Korean companies in Singapore, some directly from Korea, "he said.
Present at this meeting Acting Mayor of Batam Syamsul Bahrum, Chairman of the National Information and Communication Technology (TIK) Board Executive Team and Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ing. Ilham Akbar Habibie.
In addition, the Chairman of the Batam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jadi Rajagukguk, Director of PT Nemo Partner Indonesia Youngmin Lee, Director of PT Optic Technologies Indonesia Jhon Pieter and Chairman of the Batam City ICT Council who is also Director of PT Jaringan Akses Data Donald Pangihutan.
Virtually, the meeting was also attended by Managing Director of Korean Infrastructure National Kim Jim Nam, President Director of Seltech Co., Ltd. Brian Cho, President Director of GS Kim Hanseak and President Director of FPF Indonesia Ouach Haison.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between PT Jaringan Akses Data Indonesia and PT Indonesia Optic Technology (IOT) regarding the development of Batam as an AI industry and so on, especially in the field of technology infrastructure.
