The Riau Islands Provincial National Narcotics Department (BNNP) succeeded in dismantling and thwarting the shipment of class 1 narcotics for methamphetamine which is an international network from Malaysia in Batam, Riau Islands, Wednesday (11/11/2020). From this fragment, the BNNP managed to confiscate 33 kg of crystal meth from the three suspects, namely inial S (49), initials I (34) and initials A (39). (DOC BNNP KEPRI) 

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM -  Three people were arrested by the Riau Islands Provincial National Narcotics Department (BNPP) for smuggling methamphetamine (sabu) from Malaysia on Wednesday (11/11/2020). 

They are S (49), I (34), and A (39). The three people were paid Rp. 30 million for one delivery. However, they admitted that they had just received a down payment of Rp. 15 millions.

Head of the Riau Islands National Narcotics Department, Richard Nainggolan, said the three people had their respective roles. 

Suspect A has the duty to contact the drug dealer in Malaysia. Then suspect S was assigned to pick up crystal methamphetamine in Malaysian waters by driving a speedboat. 

In his day-to-day life, S is a fisherman who lives on Belakangpadang Island.

Meanwhile, suspect I was in charge of providing a speedboat driven by S to pick up crystal methamphetamine at the border between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Richard said, if the transaction is successful, the wages they will get IDR 1.1 billion.

"Suspect S is a speedboat driver to pick up crystal methamphetamine in Malaysian waters, and suspect S is a resident of Belakangpadang Island who works as a fisherman," said Richard. 

Before being arrested, officers chased the suspect in the waters of the Indonesia-Malaysia border. However, the suspect's speedboat sank due to loss of control.

Richard said the case was revealed after receiving reports from residents that there were drug transactions in Nongsa Waters, Batam.

From the statements of the suspects, 33 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine will be distributed in Palembang. 

The plan is for Batam to be used as an initial transit area, then proceed to Tembilahan, Riau, before being taken to Palembang by land. 

Richard admitted that drug transactions often occur in Nongsa Waters, Batam.

"For the three suspects, will be charged with Articles 112 and 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, with the threat of life imprisonment," said Richard. (*)
