TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Government of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), imposes restrictions on community activities when celebrating New Year 2021.
The restrictions were carried out to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Karimun Regency which continues to increase.
One form of this restriction is to close tourist objects in Karimun on New Year's Eve, 31 December 2020.
This was discussed in the 2021 Christmas and New Year security preparatory meeting with FKPD which took place in the Cempaka Putih Room, Karimun Regency Government Complex Building, Tuesday (22/12/2020).
"There will be no celebrations on New Year's Eve. Tourist attractions will be closed," said Regional Secretary of Karimun Regency, Muhd Firmansyah by telephone, Tuesday (22/12/2020).
He said that the closure of tourist attractions was only carried out on New Year's Eve, while for normal days, it would still be opened by implementing health protocols.
Meanwhile, to minimize the occurrence of gatherings of people on New Year's Eve or Christmas celebrations, the joint military-police apparatus, Satpol PP, and others will carry out large-scale patrols.
"We hope the public can understand it, because this is all done for our common safety," said Firmansyah.
Furthermore, Firmansyah said that people who gather on New Year's Eve will also be given strict sanctions by the police for violating health protocols. (*)
