Jokowi to All Mayors over Indonesia: We're Frequently Erroneous about the Lockdown Concept
President Joko Widodo alluded to the concept of area closure, which is often mistakenly done in the event of Covid-19 transmission.
He gave an example, when a Covid-19 case was found in a RT neighborhood, then a city immediately locked down.
"We are oft mistaken. Therefore, two weeks ago, I said, we really have to work in more detail," said Jokowi at the "Inauguration of the Opening of the Sixth National Conference of the Association of Indonesian Municipal Governments (Apeksi) 2021" at the State Palace which was broadcast virtual on YouTube, the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday (11/2/2021).
Its application can target closure for one village, sub-district, RW or RT only.
"So that it doesn't damage economic growth and doesn't damage people's economic activities," said Jokowi.
He hopes that the regional heads understand very well how the spread of Covid-19 in their regions.
Thus, local governments can take the right policies to deal with Covid-19 transmission in their respective regions.
Jokowi gave examples of lockdown policies in a number of countries, cities and regions in the world that have an impact on the people's economy. (*)
