TRIBUNBATAM.id - President Joko Widodo said Indonesia's economic growth had shown improvement. However, he admitted that this development wasn't optimal.

This was conveyed by Jokowi when he opened the XXth Congress of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/3/2021).

"Alhamdulillah, our economy is showing a positive trend, although we must admit that it is not optimal yet," said Jokowi

Jokowi said that various policies had been taken by the government to rise from the crisis caused by the pandemic.

Many priority programs have been launched to help the people's economy survive.

He also admitted that he was tireless in dealing with a pandemic situation.

Jokowi also asked for the support and participation of PMII cadres to contribute to ideas and real work in helping and solving major problems of the country.

He wants PMII cadres to navigate the nation's change. Jokowi also hopes that PMII will continue to grow and develop into an innovative and adaptive youth organization.

The President reminded that the world has changed very rapidly and caused disruption.

Therefore, it takes a lot of change and mastery of science and technology.

"Change is always unfriendly to those who are not ready to change and stop learning. Many organizations must be willing to be crushed by change because they are not readily adapting to change," said Jokowi

To note, Indonesia's economy is still in a recession zone due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the last quarter of 2020, economic growth contracted or grew by minus 2.19 percent.

In addition, as a whole, Indonesia's economy in 2020 grew negatively by 2.07 percent.

Jokowi targets the Indonesian economy to experience improvement in 2021 and be able to grow up to 5 percent. (*)
