The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG) predicts the potential for 94W tropical cyclone seeds in the Pacific Ocean from northeast Papua, which has the potential to strengthen into a tropical cyclone in the next week.
For this reason, BNPB issued an appeal letter to regional heads in 30 provinces, so that they can take steps to be alert and anticipate disasters.
Monitoring based on Himawari-8 satellite imagery shows the tropical cyclone seed has a maximum wind speed around the system of up to 30 knots (56 kilometers / hour).
The potential for growing into a tropical cyclone in the next few days is very high.
BMKG urges all people to remain vigilant and be careful of the potential for extreme weather, such as rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning which can cause floods, landslides, fallen trees, and others.
The areas potentially affected by the 94W tropical cyclone seeds are Aceh, Riau, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java.
Then, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua and Papua. (*)
