The Number of Indonesian Migrant Workers Entering via Batam is Booming, Tens are Positive Covid-19

The process of repatriating Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) via Batam has exploded in the past three days since Wednesday (4/28/2021).

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The process of repatriating Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) via Batam has exploded in the past three days since Wednesday (4/28/2021). 

As of Friday (4/30/2021), at least 634 PMIs entered Batam who were repatriated from Singapore and Malaysia

Of that total, they undergo quarantine at three different locations. 

A total of 323 people underwent quarantine at the Batam Pemko Flat in the Batamec area, Tanjunguncang. 

Then 155 people, underwent quarantine at the BP Batam Flat at Tanjunguncang area. 

Then, 156 other people underwent quarantine at the Batam Pemko Putra Jaya Flat. 

The medical officer who handled PMIs in Tanjunguncang, Dr. Anggita explained, of the 323 PMIs who underwent quarantine at the Batamec Tanjunguncang Flat, 35 of them were referred to the Galang Covid-19 Hospital because they were positively exposed to Covid-19. 

Meanwhile, of the 155 who underwent quarantine at the BP Batam Flat, 4 were referred to the Galang Covid-19 Hospital because they were confirmed positive for Covid-19. Two of them have returned. 

The process of repatriating PMI via Batam has previously been a concern, especially since the Covid-19 case in Riau Islands has increased.

For information, starting from January 2021, PMI entering Indonesia via Batam has reached 13 thousand people.

This was previously disclosed by Danrem 033 / Wira Pratama, Brigadier General of the TNI, Jimmy Ramoz Manalu.

This condition is predicted to increase until Eid. 

The Governor of Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad had previously coordinated with a number of Ministers.

He asked that the process of repatriating PMI from Malaysia and Singapore not only focused on the Riau Islands.

But also a number of other areas such as Dumai, Tanjung Balai and other nearby areas.
