A Batam resident contracted the B117 virus based on the results of sample examination on May 23, 2021.
After the findings, the Head of the Batam Environmental Health and Disease Control Engineering Center (BTKLPP), Budi Santoso, admitted that there had been no new case findings involving the new variant of the Corona B117 virus in Batam.
"Only one that we found based on the sample," said Budi when contacted on Tuesday (6/1/2021).
The samples that entered the Batam BTKLPP were indeed selected further.
Selection is carried out by looking at the CT value in the sample, if the CT value is below 29, then the sample will be sent to the Health Research and Development Department (Balitbangkes) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
Currently, BTKLPP Batam is collecting samples with CT values below 29.
When collected, the samples will be immediately sent to the Ministry of Health's Balitbangkes to undergo the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) test, which is a mapping test for the Covid-19 variant.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Batam City Health Department, Didi Kusmarjadi said, to find out about the discovery of a new variant of Covid-19 we must wait for the results of the examination from the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Balitbangkes.
