TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Health revealed that the cases of Covid-19 Variant Omicron in Indonesia now reached 6,580 cases as of February 27, 2022.

Most of them are in DKI Jakarta with 4,829 cases.

With this number, DKI Jakarta is also the only province that has contributed more than 1,000 cases of Omicron cases.

The next largest contributor to Omicron cases is West Java Province with 710 cases.

Then Banten 469, Central Java 151 and East Java 113.

In other provinces there are 0-100 cases of Omicron cases.

Along with the rise in Omicron cases, Delta cases in Indonesia are still being found.

During the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health recorded 8,463 cases of Varian Delta.

This variant is also found in DKI Jakarta with 2,343 cases.

Then West Java 1,230, Bali 399, North Sulawesi 243 and South Sulawesi 198 cases.

Meanwhile, the total cases of Variant Alpha were 83.

Most of them were found in DKI Jakarta with 38 cases and West Java with 20 cases. Then, the total number of Beta Variant cases recorded by the Ministry of Health was only 22 cases.

Indonesia is said to be in the third wave of spikes in Covid-19 cases due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

This variant is believed to spread 3 to 4 times faster than the Delta variant.

The Ministry of Health said the number of cases in the Omicron wave had exceeded the highest number of cases during the Delta surge.

Initially, the government predicted that the peak of the spike in cases due to the omicron variant would occur in February or March.

However, the prediction will be evaluated because the omicron variant can still continue to spread, especially if there is a long holiday.
