TRIBUNBATAM.id - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced that travelers who have received the full or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine no longer need to show the results of the PCR and antigen tests.

As previously reported on Tuesday (5/17), this policy applies not only to domestic travelers, but also to travelers from abroad.

Previously, negative RT-PCR or antigen results were a requirement for traveling, both at home and abroad. Only residents who have received a booster vaccination or received a third dose are exempt from this requirement.

In addition to relaxing conditions for travellers, Jokowi also announced an easing of the use of masks in open spaces.

Jokowi said that people may not use masks when doing outdoor activities or in open areas where there are no crowds.

However, Jokowi added, residents are still required to wear masks when doing activities in closed spaces and public transportation.

The reason why travelers don't need the PCR and antigen tests anymore

Jokowi explained that the policy was implemented after monitoring the development of the pandemic situation in Indonesia, which was said to be getting better.

"By taking into account the current conditions, the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is increasingly under control," said Jokowi.

The Covid-19 pandemic situation has improved in recent times. Cases of Corona virus infection in Indonesia are also gradually decreasing.

According to the latest Covid-19 Handling Task Force data, Monday (5/16), Covid-19 cases in Indonesia increased by 182 in a day.

With this, there are a total of 6,050,958 cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia, starting from the time the initial case was announced in the country on March 2, 2022.
