TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Balinese gringsing weaving is used as a souvenir for the delegates attending the G20 Summit.
A total of 120 fabrics were ordered from the craftsmen of the Tenganan Pegringsingan Tourism Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.
The cloth will later be worn around the delegation attending the G20 Summit.
Bendesa Adat Tenganan Village, Putu Suarjana, said the fabric ordered by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno had been completed and would be sent to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
The gringsing fabric made has gone through a strict selection regarding quality and has met the requirements requested by the Bali Gringsing Weaving Society for the Protection of Geographical Indications (MPIG), with a width of 20 centimeters and a length of 180 centimeters.
The series of G20 meetings under the chairmanship of Indonesia has started since December 1, 2021.
However, the peak event will be held on 15 and 16 November 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Previously, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that it would continue to strive to promote Gringsing woven fabric as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Quoted from the information on the Kemenparekraf website, this was done because gringsing woven fabric is one of the ancient cultural heritages of Bali that still survives to this day.
The specialty of this cloth lies in its manufacturing technique, which uses the double tie technique and is the only one that uses this technique.
It takes a long time to make. Weaving for a sheet of gringsing woven fabric takes about two months and for a double ikat motif it can take even longer, which is about two to five years.
Sandiaga himself is said to have ordered souvenirs for the G20 summit since September 2021.
In addition to the old manufacture, gringsing woven fabric is also 100 percent made by hand or without the help of any machines, making it even more special.
The coloring of gringsing woven fabric is also very special, namely using the color produced from candlenut oil. This is done so that the colors obtained are more concentrated and last longer.
It takes more than three months to produce real colors.
