This island is also known as the Left God Waves because of the height of the waves that are challenging for surfers.

The best waves on Nihiwatu Island usually occur during July-August. 

Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra

There are at least about 400 surfing spots in the Mentawai Islands.

No wonder, if the Mentawai Islands are called a paradise for world-class surfers.

The best and world-class surfing spots in the Mentawai Islands are located on Sipora Island, which is included in the list of the world's best surfing spots.

The waves on Sipora Island are known to be consistent with reaching 7 meters high.

The best time to surf on Sipora Island is from April to October, where the high waves seem to form a tunnel, which for surfers is a challenging moment.

Sorake Beach, Nias

Nias, North Sumatra, has several areas for surfing, but the best is at Sorake Beach. 

On 23-29 June 2022, Sorake Beach host the World Surf League (WSL) Nias Pro 2022 event. 

In that event, world-class surfers came down to compete against the waves at Sorake Beach where the waves reached 5 meters high. 

Uniquely, the waves of Sorake Beach can almost reach the shoreline or about up to 200 meters, a phenomenon that rarely occurs on other beaches. 

Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara

Rote Island in East Nusa Tenggara is unique, namely the waves that can extend up to 300 meters.

The waves on Rote Island can also reach a height of 4.5 meters.

Surfers refer East Nusa Tenggara as 'T-Land', which is the nickname for surfing spots on Rote Island.

There are many best surf spots on Rote Island, such as Nemberala Beach, Bo'a Beach, and Ndana Island.

Plengkung Beach, Banyuwangi

Plengkung Beach or G-land is touted by world surfers as one of the best surfing spots in the world after Hawaii.

The waves at Plengkung Beach can reach 6-8 meters, with intervals of up to 5 minutes.

G-land has also been trusted several times as the host for world-class surfing competitions.

In June 2022, the World Surf League Championship Tour (WSLCT) 2022 international surfing event took place at Plengkung Beach.
