Efforts to Lower the Airline Ticket Prices, International Flights to Indonesia will be Added Soon

TRIBUNBATAM.id - An effort to increase tourism in Indonesia, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is collaborating with the Ministry of Transportation to increase the frequency of international flights. 

"We continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation and domestic and foreign airline companies, and there are indications that we will add more international flights directly," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno in The Weekly Brief on Wednesday (28/09/2022). 

The airlines that will increase the frequency of these international flights are Malaysia Airlines, South Korea's Jeju Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Air Asia. 

Malaysia Airlines opens flights from Kuala Lumpur to Pekanbaru and Jeju Air opens flights from Manado to South Korea. 

Then, the Garuda Indonesia airline will add flights from Japan to Bali three times a week which will take effect as of November 22, 2022.

Air Asia has added flights from Padang to Kuala Lumpur which will be effective in October 2022.

Sandiaga hopes that the addition of international flights to Indonesia will help lower the price of airline tickets.

That's because there will be more quotas for these international flights and entering the holiday period. 

Furthermore, he said that at least in September 2022, there had been nearly 3 million airplane ticket reservations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. 

Seeing this phenomenon, he explained, the need to prepare other airports to be able to accommodate flights, both regional and international.
