TRIBUNBATAM.id, YOGYAKARTA - Various batik collections are exhibited at the 2022 Batik Festival.

The festival will be held at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC) from 19 October to 23 October 2022.

The event was opened with a fashion show featuring officials from the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and the Sleman Regency Government, as well as Bantul as models who strolled on the runway.

The Batik exhibition was enlivened by 170 Small and Medium Industries (IKM), a fashion show by 80 designers, and a batik seminar attended by 100 participants.

The Head of the DIY Industry and Trade Office, Syam Arjayanti, explained that this activity was a form of implementing Law No. 13 of 2012 concerning the Privileges of DIY.

In addition, DIY was also named Jogja the World Batik City by the World Craft Council (WCC) in Dongyang China on October 18, 2014.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Kadarmanta Baskara Aji, who read the remarks of the Governor of DIY, hoped that the batik exhibition could build enthusiasm and improve the image of Yogyakarta batik for the welfare of the community.

Furthermore, said Aji, the specialty of Yogyakarta batik itself is also increasingly meaningful, along with the inauguration of Yogyakarta as the World Batik City by the World Craft Council (WCC) in Dongyang, China on October 18, 2014.

The award was given, because DIY was considered to meet the seven criteria of the World Batik City which became the requirements of the WCC.
