TRIBUNBATAM.id - According to data from the Central Statistics Agency, tourists from India are included in the list of the top five tourists visiting Indonesia.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, during a visit to the Transmedia Jakarta office.

Sandiaga revealed that the aim of tourists from India to Bali was because they wanted to get married.

Because, said Sandiaga, they think, getting married in Bali is much more beautiful, easy, and meaningful.

In fact, until now there has been no direct flight from India to Bali.

Even so, many Indian tourists still visit the Island of the Gods, even in the top five.

According to Sandiaga, currently he is coordinating with the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, to seek direct flights from India to Bali.

With direct flights, Sandiaga believes, this will increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in 2023.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia in December 2022 were recorded at 895.12 thousand visits, an increase of 447.08 percent compared to December 2021.

The additional number of tourists in December 2022 means that the total number of foreign tourist visits will reach 5.47 million people or exceed the government's target.

"Our target has been phenomenally exceeded, the target of 3.6 million is the most optimistic, but as of November it has been 4.6 million," he said.
