Cibatu Station in Garut, 134 Years Old and Been Visited by Charlie Chaplin

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Garut Regency, West Java, has a historic train station, namely Cibatu Station.

This station, which is 134 years old, is still active today and is on the southern railway line (KA).

People who take the train via the southern route, such as going to Bandung, will go through this station. 

Cibatu Station is even busier when the railroad line that connects Cibatu-Garut is back in operation.

The pathway is reactivated after 40 years of inactivity.

Quoting the KAI.id, Cibatu Station was founded in 1889 after the inauguration of the railroad line from Cicalengka Station to Cilacap. 

This station is located at an altitude of 612 meters above sea level (masl) and was built by Staatsspoorwegen or a Dutch-owned railway company. 

This station also served the Cibatu-Cikajang route in 1926.

This path is the highest on the island of Java with an altitude of around 1,200 meters above sea level.

The Cibatu-Cikajang line has not been operating since 1983.

The reactivation of the railway line only reached Garut Station. 

This station is also one of the most favorite because tourists from Europe who want to travel to Garut, will stop here.

Garut is a tourist destination that presents the beauty of natural panoramas, so it is very popular with Europeans. 

One of the famous figures who ever set foot in Cibatu Station was a British comedian named Charlie Chaplin. 

He and actress Mary Pickford paid a visit and traveled to Garut in 1927.
