TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Coordinating Minister for Economy or called (Menteri Koordinator Perekonomian), Darmin Nasution, assessed the need for a harder effort to lower the cost of logistics in Indonesia.
Currently, he said, the cost of logistics in Indonesia is still expensive compared to the various countries in southeast Asia.
"Now our logistics are expensive, one container from Batam to Singapore is the same as expensive as from Singapore to Japan," he said at the National Transportation Day Conference, Jakarta, Saturday (09/14/2019).
The former Governor of Bank Indonesia assessed the need for the efforts to optimize the transportation to support the flow of goods from one location to another.
According to him, expensive logistics costs are one of the obstacles to achieving the higher economic growth.

Going forward, Darmin requested that the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Trade encourage the use of more efficient transportation for shipping goods.
If necessary, he said, the two ministries encourage the construction of goods warehouses in strategic places so that the logistics flows can running better.
In addition, Darmin also requested that the two ministries utilize the information technology developments to support the national logistics system. (*)
