TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park closed the climbing activity to Mount Semeru starting on Sunday (9/22/2019) until an unspecified time due to the widespread of fire incident.
The closure of the climb was officially announced by the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park by the letter numbered, PG.05/T.8/TU/TU.03/HMS/9/2019.
"In connection with the fire conditions on Sunday September 22, 2019 at 15:00 WIB on the Mt. Semeru hiking trail, hereby the Balai Besar Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park has completely closed the Mt. Semeru climbing activities from September 22, 2019 until an unspecified time," BBTNBTS Head John Kennedie said in an announcement letter.

Chairman of the Alas Gimbal Community, Trianko Hermanda said the fire broke out in the Pangonan Cilik area near Ranu Kumbolo Post. The fire was thought to have originated from the Ayek-Ayek Mountain area.

"The fire is approaching to the post four," said the man who is familiarly called Slank when contacted by KompasTravel.
Previously, a fire broke out in the Arcodo and Kalimati area on Mount Semeru. Fire began to be seen since a week ago.
TNBBTS also had time to limit the climbing activities to Ranu Kumbolo Post due to fires in Arcopodo and Kalimati. Until now, the climbers continue to be evacuated back to the Ranupani Post. (*)
