Riots Broke Out In Wamena! Buildings Were Burned And Barrage of Gunfire Rang Out

TRIBUNBATAM.id -  Riots broke out again in Papua, Monday (09/23/2019). 

The riot on Monday morning in Wamena began with a students demonstration. 

Contributor Kompas.com (Tribun Batam Network) in Wamena, John Roy Purba reported, the demonstrators behaved anarchistly to burn down people's houses, government offices, PLN and several community kiosks. 

The protests that led to the riots were allegedly triggered by the words of a teacher's racial tone towards his students in Wamena. 

This is made the students angry until the news spread and triggered the student to protests in Wamena City.

"Until now, Wamena is still dominated by the students who are protesting," Jhon said via telephone, Monday. 

John reported that the police and military forces tried to repel the demonstrators. It lasted about 4 hours. 

Indeed, in a conversation with John, the sound of a series of firearms was heard. 

Until now, activities in the City of Wamena was totally paralyzed. The community chose to evacuate at the Wamena Police Station and Kodim. (*)
