Having Indication of Covid-19, Mayor of Batam Asks Residents Not to Worry

PThe meeting of Batam City Government, which was attended by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Batam City DPRD, scholars, priests and other religious leaders, discussed the steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Batam. The meeting was held at Alun alun Engku Putri, Batam Center, Saturday (3/21/2020).

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team in Batam will immediately begin sweeping throughout Batam City area, Monday (03/23/2020).

This was conveyed by Mayor of Batam, HM Rudi during a meeting at Alun Alun Engku Putri, Batam Center, Saturday (3/21/2020).

The team will come to resident's homes as a step to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Batam.

"Monday has started, but not as a whole. Because PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) has not yet come all," said Rudi.

The Covid-19 Task Force team will record every citizen, if there are indications similar to Corona virus.

This data collection is also a preparation to find out how many medical teams and equipment are needed.

"Collecting all data first. After we get the data, we know who will be the suspect later. With the amount of data we can, we can calculate our strength. For shelters, doctors, doctors' needs, we can count everything," he said.

Rudi appealed to the community not to worry if it had to be brought by Task Force team when found to have Covid-19 indications.

Residents brought by the Task Force team will be treated by the government free of charge.

"Don't worry, please don't worry  if we bring it. We take it to be treated, and the costs are borne by the government," said Rudi.

"What is indicated by Corona virus, if he has a fever, cough, vomiting, it is already indicated it will be treated as well, even though he is not included suspect. Because we have been taken, we will treat it until healed," he added.

For residents who are the backbone of the family, Rudi said City Government will prepare assistance for the family.

"If he is the backbone of the family, this will be a problem. So there is food that we help. City Government budget, we will make food assistance," he explained.

The Chairman of Covid-19 Batam Prevention Task Force, Amsakar Achmad, also said that he had run a website and information source that could be accessed by residents.

The website lawancorona.batam.go.id has been launched as an information guide for Covid-19 in Batam.

In addition there is also a hotline at 112 and telephone number 0812 7781 5333 provided for residents who want to know or share the latest information of Covid-19 in Batam.
