Laying off Employees, Matahari Department Store Guarantees Will Not Lay off and Keep Paying Salaries

TRIBUNBATAM.id - After closing all outlets nationally, Matahari Department Store, Tbk (LPPF) ensured that they would not make any employee reductions or layoffs.

Matahari Department Store's Corporate Secretary, Miranti Hadisusilo, said that the company would also continue to provide salaries, bonuses and holiday allowances for employees.

"There are no plans for us to lay off. All store employees will be laid off, but will still be paid," Miranti told Kompas.com, Wednesday (04/08/2020). 

However, said Miranti, employee salaries are paid in full.

"There is a salary deduction. The amount varies, the higher the position, the greater the deduction. Sorry, we can't describe the range," she explained.

Miranti ensured bonuses and holiday allowances (THR) will also be given to employees. This is done by the company in accordance with government regulations related to the provision of THR.

"Employee bonuses have been paid and THR will be paid according to government regulations," she explained. 

At present, the company has closed all outlets nationally. While the company's revenue source is from online sales through Matahari.com.

Under these uncertain conditions, the company's management also adopted a policy of withdrawing dividend payment recommendations and proposed suspending all dividend payments at the upcoming Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. 

The company also reviews all non-essential operating expenses in order to reduce expenses on a large scale including decreasing rental expenses, decreasing marketing expenses for the medium term, prohibiting official travel, decreasing human resource burden by a combination of reducing working hours, implementing unpaid leave and decreasing salaries with the biggest decrease at senior management level.
