TRIBUNBATAM.id, TANJUNGPINANG - Batam Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a warning against high waves in the eastern waters of Bintan and Lingga, Saturday (7/25/2020).

"Be vigilant for marine activities against medium-scale wave potential reaching 1.5 meters in the waters of the East Bintan and East Lingga waters," said Forecaster on duty BMKG Batam, Riza Juniarti, Friday (24/7/2020).

From the data provided by BMKG Batam, in addition to the waters in Bintan and Lingga, the wave height in Karimun waters also has the potential to reach 1 meter.

"The waters of Batam and Natuna are 0.8 meters the highest. While in Anambas waters, only 0.1 meters is the highest," he said.

For the weather potential in Riau Islands ( Kepri), it is generally forecast to be cloudy but there is the potential for light to moderate rainfall.

"And it can be accompanied by lightning, and strong winds in the morning, afternoon and evening," he added.

The forecast can occur due to wind turn patterns due to cyclone circulation in the northeast of Natuna.

This causes a buildup of air mass and slowing wind speed so that the potential for cloud formation in Riau Islands region tends to be more significant.
