More Often On The Streets, Ojol Drivers Got Shortness of Breath Due To Smog Haze In Batam

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM -  Forest and land fires (Karhutla) in several areas on the island of Sumatra affected to the several nearby areas including Batam City. 

Batam area at first glance looks like being cloudy due to the haze that covering the Batam City a few days ago. 

Responding to this, the Ojek Online (Ojol) Driver Community incorporated in the Gojek Batam Community (GBC) secretariat in Botania 2 distributed masks and sweets for free to motorists who crossed the Red Light intersection at the Kaliban Batam Center Hotel. 

Tomy Asrinaldi, Admin of the GBC as well as the coordinator of the distribution of masks, revealed that the distribution of masks to motorists was a form of concern for the fellow motorists. 

"This was a form of our concern for the presence of smog that has covering the city of Batam in this recent weeks," said Tomy to Tribunbatam, Wednesday (09/18/2019). 

The Ojol Driver Community also revealed that those who felt the most impact from the haze were the Ojol drivers itself.

The distribution of these masks is the result of a joint venture of the drivers who are members of the community. 

Tomy also hopes that the police will crack down on the forest fires so that similar incidents do not occur in the future. 

From the monitoring, there are around 9 community members who were deployed in the distribution of masks to the motorists.
