"From that number, air quality in Riau Islands was declared unhealthy," said Ad Interim Governor of Riau Islands, Isdianto, while chairing a press meeting at Graha Kepri Building, Batam City, Wednesday (09/18/2019) afternoon.
Even before opening his own press conference, Isdianto complained about Batam air condition which was covered by smog.
"It's very disturbing," he said again, while coughing and asking for a drink from Riau Provincial Government staff.
He said, a few days ago, together with President Jokowi also held a meeting related to forest and land fire disaster that occurred every years in several areas.
"Smog not come from Riau Islands. This could be from karhutla point around Sumatra and Kalimantan," he continued.
He also revealed, President Jokowi himself had also announced that forest and land farmers could be followed up decisively.
"There is no tolerance for them. Land burners, There is penalty for them," continued Isdianto.
