TRIBUNBATAM.id - A magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook North Sulawesi on Sunday (9/29/2019). The earthquake occurred at 09.02 WIB.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG) said that the location of the earthquake was 5.73 North latitude, 126.59 East longitude (192 kilometers West of Sea Melonguane, North Sulawesi). With a depth of 121 kilometers.
Based on the residents reports, this earthquake was felt in parts of North Sulawesi with the IV MMI intensity in Melonguane, Talaud, III MMI in Tahuna, Sangihe, and II MMI in Bitung.

Head of BMKG Data and Information Section of Manado Geophysics Station, Edward Henry Mengko said, if reviewed from the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a type of earthquake with a medium depth due to the subduction activity of the Philippine sea plates.
"This earthquake has no Tsunami potential," he said via text message when confirmed on Sunday.
Until 10:55 WITA, the results of BMKG monitoring had occurred one aftershock with a magnitude of 4.4. (*)
